Cyan and GameTap reach agreement on MOUL rights

After months of negotiation with Turner-owned GameTap, Cyan Worlds has reached an agreement to regain the rights to Myst Online. Now, Cyan is making a plan for Myst Online's future: A future dependent upon community involvement.

Cyan's roadmap is tentative; like all plans, it is subject to change. Here is what has been revealed thus far:

  • Current Cyan game development staff is "less than 10"
  • A small subscriber fee such as $25/half-year to cover operation costs of Cyan-run servers
  • Community will have freedom to add new content
  • If experiment is successful, Cyan could resume commercial operation in future
  • GameTap and Cyan to share profits of any future revival

Cartographers Have Moved

The Guild of Cartographers has changed its base of operations, and is now operating from its own subforum at Uru Obsession.

The move was a result of Grandmaster Aiden's disappearance (possibly at the hands of Bahro), and the similar disappearance of the Urumaps.com website.

Guild operations, including recruitment, are now found here.

CAGrayWolf has passed away

This morning, a number of community members received an e-mail from CAGrayWolf's account, apparently sent by his mother Karen. According to the e-mail he passed away in his sleep on the night of June 21. Community member Eleri spoke to his mother and has confirmed that this regrettable news is true.

Recently, CAGrayWolf had been working to help organize Mysterium 2008. From his Bio at Mysterium.net:

CAGrayWolf, aka Wolfie, has been a member of the Myst community since January 2003. He was involved with the original Uru Beta and has been active in several projects and groups over the years. He is one of the original members of the Guild of Greeters, being instrumental in getting them off the ground, and is still very active with them today. He has been a moderator for several forums, including the Ubisoft Uru forum and GoG, and was recently promoted to moderator on the MYSTcommunity.com forums.

He will be missed.

The Archiver Issue 13 Out Now!

The 13th Issue of The Archiver is now available for your perusal.

The focus is well and truly on the future, with a look at the copyright issues surrounding a return of MOUL, a feature on the Uruite community in There, and a massive interview with the Guild of Maintainers.

That doesn't mean we can't look fondly back at what was, though. Szark gives us his take on the presentation by the Puzzlers, while Hitana remembers one of the old Ages, Eder Kemo. Not to mention The Poetry...

This issue couldn't have happened without the help from a few freelance contributors. If you want to pitch a few words into this fan production, shoot your ideas over to the.archiver00[at]gmail[dot]com, and we'll give your work a shot in the magazine. Comments and feedback also welcome.

The Archiver #13. By the community, for the community

Mysterium Registration Change

Shorah Explorers!

In order to allow more people to attend Mysterium, despite increasing gas prices, and other economic BLAHS, we have ELIMINATED
the June registration increase, yay!

PRE-REGISTRATION (and all the goodies that come with it) will remain the same price as it has been, until July 15th! AND all pre-registrations are entered into a drawing for one of the highly nifty RIVEN CRYSTAL KEYCHAINS by RIUM+!

In addition, the at the door price has been lowered AND we've added a 1 day pass for $10.

David Sweeney aka Wolfie Mysterium Emissary
